About the Editor
There have been
numerous Editors of The Boom Signal. Their
contributions to this publication allowed a tradition to continue
for the past 31 years. It has been my privilege to continue
this for the Boom Operator community. This publication reminds
us that our Boom Operator community is like a family. We all
know each other or (through this publication) about each other.
Experience level doesn't matter, we're all family.
2010 is my last Edition of The Boom Signal as Editor. MSgt Ernest Burns, HQ AMC/A3TK will be taking over the reigns for the 2011 Edition. Please contact MSgt Burns for any 2011 Signal-related issues at:
MSgt Ernest Burns, Command KC-135 Training Manager, HQ AMC/A3TK, ernest.burns-02@scott.af.mil
Every year
around January time-frame the SPINS and suspense date tasker is sent
via email direct to all unit CMSgt's and through the HQ AMC Boom
Operator Functional Manager, ANG Bureau Chief and AF Reserve HQ
Chief. The suspense date for the Signal is 31
May each year. That gives units approximately six months to
compile an input. The goal is to have 100% participation by
each unit.
I am
stationed at Randolph AFB, Texas; the home of HQ AETC. I've
been in the U.S. Air Force for 27 years. I'm currently serving
as the Command Functional Manager for Boom Operators and Remotely
Piloted Aircraft (RPA) Sensor Operators. If there is anything
you'd like to see in the next Edition (reminder all this is done
personally out-of-pocket so keep any suggestions realistic), please
contact the Editor for any 2010 Signal-related issues using the following information:
